CoCoRaHS (Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow Network)

CoCoRaHS is a non-profit, community-based network of volunteers who measure and map precipitation.

Their goals include:

1) Providing accurate high-quality precipitation data for many end users on a timely basis
and
2) Increasing the density of precipitation data available throughout the country

Many end users include the National Weather Service, other meteorologists, hydrologists, USDA, and private citizens. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a major sponsor.

Volunteer opportunities include:

        - Measurements of precipitation - rain, hail or snow
        - and record it on their website.

Time Involved: Daily 5-10 minutes

Resources needed: 4” diameter Stratus rain gauge, post for mounting.
